Using Calorie calculator
Resting kcal/day = 10 × kg + 6.25 × cm − 5 × age + 5 (male) or −161 (female). Daily expenditure estimate = resting kcal/day × your activity multiplier.
The Mifflin–St Jeor equation estimates resting expenditure in healthy adults; it is not a measurement. The activity multiplier is an assumption you supply; 1.6 is an example, not a recommendation. Not for children, pregnancy, breastfeeding, illness or an eating-disorder care plan. This estimates maintenance expenditure and does not prescribe calorie restriction. A clinician or registered dietitian can help interpret individual needs.
A worked example
For weight (kg) = 70, height (cm) = 175, age (years) = 30, sex used by the study equation = Male, daily activity multiplier (your assumption) = 1.6, estimated daily expenditure (kcal) = 2638.

Example results for weight (kg)
These examples use Height (cm): 175; Age (years): 30; Sex used by the study equation: Male; Daily activity multiplier (your assumption): 1.6. They are reference calculations, not recommended settings.
| Weight (kg) | Estimated daily expenditure (kcal) |
|---|---|
| 35 | 2078 |
| 70 | 2638 |
| 140 | 3758 |
