Using Calorie density calculator
Calorie density = calories ÷ food weight in grams. Multiply by 100 for calories per 100 grams.
The calories and weight must refer to the same prepared food amount. Cooking water changes weight; this does not independently determine nutritional quality.
A worked example
With total calories (kcal) = 300, food weight (g) = 150, the calorie density (kcal/g) is 2.
Before you use the result
The calories and weight must refer to the same prepared food amount. Cooking water changes weight; this does not independently determine nutritional quality.
Example results for total calories (kcal)
These examples use Food weight (g): 150. They are reference calculations, not recommended settings.
| Total calories (kcal) | Calorie density (kcal/g) |
|---|---|
| 150 | 1 |
| 300 | 2 |
| 600 | 4 |
