How to turn 2/9 into a decimal
Divide the top number by the bottom one: 2 ÷ 9. 9 does not go into 2, so write 0 and a decimal point, put a 0 after the 2 and divide:
- 20 ÷ 9 = 2, remainder 2 (2 × 9 = 18). Remainder 2 again, the number the division started from, so the digits repeat forever: 0.2222…
To read it as a percentage, move the decimal point two places to the right: 22.22%.
