How to turn 7/9 into a decimal
Divide the top number by the bottom one: 7 ÷ 9. 9 does not go into 7, so write 0 and a decimal point, put a 0 after the 7 and divide:
- 70 ÷ 9 = 7, remainder 7 (7 × 9 = 63). Remainder 7 again, the number the division started from, so the digits repeat forever: 0.7777…
To read it as a percentage, move the decimal point two places to the right: 77.78%.
