How to turn 3/4 into a decimal
Divide the top number by the bottom one: 3 ÷ 4. 4 does not go into 3, so write 0 and a decimal point, put a 0 after the 3 and divide:
- 30 ÷ 4 = 7, remainder 2 (7 × 4 = 28)
- Bring down a 0: 20 ÷ 4 = 5, remainder 0 (5 × 4 = 20). Remainder 0, so the division ends: 3/4 = 0.75
To read it as a percentage, move the decimal point two places to the right: 75%.
