Using Income tax calculator
Taxable income = adjusted gross income − deduction. Each band is taxed at its own 2026 federal rate; nonrefundable credits reduce the tax to no less than zero.
US federal ordinary-income estimate for tax year 2026, not a tax return. Standard deduction assumes you are under 65, not blind and not someone else’s dependent. Use your total deduction to account for applicable additional deductions. Excludes capital-gain rates, AMT, self-employment tax, state tax, credit eligibility and refundable credits.
A worked example
For 2026 adjusted gross ordinary income (usd) = 50000, filing status = Single, deduction to use = Standard deduction, my total deduction (usd) = 0, nonrefundable tax credits (usd) = 0, federal tax already paid (usd) = 0, federal income tax (usd) = 3,820.00.
