How this conversion works
A rectangular pan’s area is width × length. A round pan’s area is π × (diameter ÷ 2)². Divide the new area by the original area to get the ingredient multiplier.
Area scaling preserves batter depth only when the inside shape and usable depth match the assumption. Pan material and oven behavior still affect baking.
A worked example
A 20 × 20 pan has area 400. A 30 × 20 pan has area 600. Multiply ingredients by 600 ÷ 400 = 1.5 for the same batter depth.
Before you use the result
Does not calculate bake time or safe fill depth. Sloped sides, tube pans, complex shapes and different batter depths require measured capacity instead. Nonzero numeric inputs for these compound calculations are limited to 1e-40 through 1e40.
