How to convert data size
Decimal prefixes use powers of 1000; binary prefixes use powers of 1024. Lowercase b means bits, uppercase B means bytes. This is an amount, not transfer speed.
Multiply by the source unit factor to get the base quantity, then divide by the target factor. The other-units table compares the same value without retyping it.
A worked example
1 GB = 1000000000 bytes; divided by 1048576 gives about 953.6743164 MiB.
Before you use the result
Displayed values are rounded; extra digits do not make your measurement more accurate. Decimal prefixes use powers of 1000; binary prefixes use powers of 1024. Lowercase b means bits, uppercase B means bytes. This is an amount, not transfer speed.
GB (decimal) to MiB (binary): reference values
| GB (decimal) | MiB (binary) |
|---|---|
| 1 | 953.6743164 |
| 10 | 9536.743164 |
| 100 | 95367.43164 |
Calculated with the same conversion as the tool above.
