How to turn 3/5 into a decimal
Divide the top number by the bottom one: 3 ÷ 5. 5 does not go into 3, so write 0 and a decimal point, put a 0 after the 3 and divide:
- 30 ÷ 5 = 6, remainder 0 (6 × 5 = 30). Remainder 0, so the division ends: 3/5 = 0.6
To read it as a percentage, move the decimal point two places to the right: 60%.
