The density sample is an arithmetic example, not a measured property of water or another liquid. Use density for the solution at the relevant temperature.

Reset reloads the tool with its starting values and releases open files and device controls. Saved drafts stay on this device until you delete them.

How this conversion works

Mass-based ppm means milligrams of solute per kilogram of solution. mg/L instead divides by solution volume.

Divide mg/L by solution density in kg/L to get ppm by mass. Multiply ppm by density to get mg/L. The familiar one-to-one relationship applies only when density is 1 kg/L.

A worked example

10 mg/L ÷ 1.2 kg/L = about 8.333333333 ppm by mass.

Before you use the result

This is mass fraction, not mole fraction, gas ppm by volume or a dosing recommendation. The density must describe the whole solution. Nonzero numeric inputs for these compound calculations are limited to 1e-40 through 1e40.
