In DMS mode, use spaces, degree symbols or primes: 38 30 0 N and 77 15 0 W. Hemisphere letters replace the sign; do not combine them with a negative sign.

How this conversion works

Decimal degrees equal degrees + minutes/60 + seconds/3600. South and west coordinates carry a negative sign.

Degrees, minutes and seconds change notation only. The converter does not transform map datums, project coordinates, locate an address or move a point.

Before you use the result

Latitude is limited to ±90° and longitude to ±180°. DMS minutes and seconds must be less than 60. UTM, grids, geocoding and datum transformations are not included.
