Using Average velocity calculator
Average velocity = signed displacement ÷ elapsed time.
Displacement is the change in position. Distance traveled is different when the motion reverses direction.
A worked example
With displacement (meters) = 120, elapsed time (seconds) = 10, the average velocity (m/s) is 12.
Before you use the result
Displacement is the change in position. Distance traveled is different when the motion reverses direction.
Example results for displacement (meters)
These examples use Elapsed time (seconds): 10. They are reference calculations, not recommended settings.
| Displacement (meters) | Average velocity (m/s) |
|---|---|
| 60 | 6 |
| 120 | 12 |
| 240 | 24 |
