Using Acceleration calculator
Average acceleration = (final velocity − initial velocity) ÷ elapsed time.
Use signed velocities along the same axis. Average acceleration does not describe changes within the interval.
A worked example
With initial velocity (m/s) = 2, final velocity (m/s) = 14, elapsed time (s) = 4, the average acceleration (m/s²) is 3.
Before you use the result
Use signed velocities along the same axis. Average acceleration does not describe changes within the interval.
Example results for initial velocity (m/s)
These examples use Final velocity (m/s): 14; Elapsed time (s): 4. They are reference calculations, not recommended settings.
| Initial velocity (m/s) | Average acceleration (m/s²) |
|---|---|
| 1 | 3.25 |
| 2 | 3 |
| 4 | 2.5 |
