Using TVM calculator
Solve the equal-period savings equation for future value, present value, payment, periods or interest rate.
Balances and deposits are nonnegative, payments arrive at period end and the rate is constant. Use the same period for payments and interest. The input for the unknown is ignored. A negative required deposit or impossible target is rejected. Period estimates can be fractional mathematical times, not a payment schedule. Rate search is limited to -99.9% through 1,000% per period; no fees, taxes or guaranteed investment returns.
A worked example
For present balance (ignored when solving it) = 1000, future balance (ignored when solving it) = 1420, payment each period (ignored when solving it) = 100, rate per period (%, ignored when solving it) = 10, periods (ignored when solving it) = 2, solve for = Future balance, future balance = 1420.
Before you use the result

Example results for present balance (ignored when solving it)
These examples use Future balance (ignored when solving it): 1420; Payment each period (ignored when solving it): 100; Rate per period (%, ignored when solving it): 10; Periods (ignored when solving it): 2; Solve for: Future balance. They are reference calculations, not recommended settings.
| Present balance (ignored when solving it) | Future balance |
|---|---|
| 500 | 815 |
| 1000 | 1420 |
| 2000 | 2630 |
