Using Specific heat calculator
Specific heat = heat transferred ÷ (mass × temperature change).
Use nonzero temperature change. Assumes no phase change and negligible heat loss; Celsius temperature differences equal kelvin differences.
A worked example
With heat transferred (j) = 1000, mass (kg) = 2, temperature change (k) = 5, the specific heat (j/kg·k) is 100.
Before you use the result
Use nonzero temperature change. Assumes no phase change and negligible heat loss; Celsius temperature differences equal kelvin differences.
Example results for heat transferred (j)
These examples use Mass (kg): 2; Temperature change (K): 5. They are reference calculations, not recommended settings.
| Heat transferred (J) | Specific heat (J/kg·K) |
|---|---|
| 500 | 50 |
| 1000 | 100 |
| 2000 | 200 |
