Using Mean arterial pressure calculator
Estimate mean arterial pressure as diastolic pressure plus one third of the pulse pressure.
The one-third approximation does not integrate an arterial waveform and can differ with heart rate, rhythm and clinical state. Enter systolic pressure at least as high as diastolic pressure. No diagnosis, perfusion target, medication change or treatment decision is provided.
A worked example
For systolic pressure (mmhg) = 120, diastolic pressure (mmhg) = 80, estimated mean arterial pressure (mmhg) = 93.333333.
Before you use the result
The one-third approximation does not integrate an arterial waveform and can differ with heart rate, rhythm and clinical state. Enter systolic pressure at least as high as diastolic pressure. No diagnosis, perfusion target, medication change or treatment decision is provided.
Example results for systolic pressure (mmhg)
These examples use Diastolic pressure (mmHg): 80. They are reference calculations, not recommended settings.
| Systolic pressure (mmHg) | Estimated mean arterial pressure (mmHg) |
|---|---|
| 120 | 93.333333 |
| 240 | 133.333333 |
