IPv4 to IPv6 converter explained

Represent an IPv4 address in the IPv4-mapped IPv6 form. The final two hexadecimal groups contain the original four octets, preceded by ::ffff:.

A worked example

192.0.2.128 becomes ::ffff:c000:280. This is another representation of the IPv4 address, not a newly assigned public IPv6 address.

Before you use the result

Only IPv4-mapped notation is produced. NAT64 prefixes, 6to4 addressing, routing and connectivity are outside this conversion.
