Using Tank volume calculator
Calculate liquid volume at a measured fill depth in a horizontal circular cylinder.
Segment area = r² acos((r − h)/r) − (r − h)√(2rh − h²), then multiply by length. Flat ends only; dished ends, tilt and wall thickness are excluded. Dimensions share one unit.
A worked example
Example inputs: horizontal cylinder inside radius = 1, cylinder length = 2, fill depth from bottom = 1. Liquid volume = 3.14159265359.
Before you use the result
Segment area = r² acos((r − h)/r) − (r − h)√(2rh − h²), then multiply by length. Flat ends only; dished ends, tilt and wall thickness are excluded. Dimensions share one unit.
Example results for horizontal cylinder inside radius
These examples use Cylinder length: 2; Fill depth from bottom: 1. They are reference calculations, not recommended settings.
