Monthly saving needed = max(0, target − current balance) ÷ months.
Assumes no interest, investment return or withdrawals. If your target is already funded, the required saving is zero.
A worked example
With target balance = 12000, current balance = 2000, months to save = 20, the monthly saving needed is 500.00 (rounded to two decimal places).
