Increase image size in KB

Choose the smallest size your form accepts and download a JPG that reaches it, without leaving your browser.

Privacy: runs in your browser

This tool processes your input in this browser. Inputs and results are excluded from analytics. Recent tools save tool names, visit counts and last-visit times. Favorites store only tool names. Draft saving is optional and stays on this device; delete saved text with the draft controls. Loading text from a URL is optional and contacts that server; its URL and your IP address are visible to the server. When a button sends your result to another tool, it waits in this tab until that tool opens it, for up to a minute, and is then deleted.

Copy link includes the inputs you choose to share in the address. Anyone with that link can reopen them. Files and generated results are excluded. Password and key tools share settings only.

Example image · 640 × 360 pixels

Your image is processed in browser memory. It is never uploaded or saved by this tool. Download saves it to your device. EXIF metadata, including location, is removed from the output.

A bigger file holds no more detail: the same picture is saved as a JPG with less compression and, only when that is not enough, with more pixels. Reaching a size does not guarantee that a form will accept the photo.

Sharing and starting over

A copied link includes what you entered and your settings, so anyone with it can see them. Leave private text out. Files and results are not included; random draws are made again.

Start over puts the tool back to its starting values and closes any open file or device. Drafts you saved stay on this device until you delete them.

Reach the size your form asks for

Enter the minimum the form names and choose KB or KiB: a KB is 1,000 bytes and a KiB 1,024. If the form also gives a maximum, enter it too, and the download lands between the two. The byte count shown is the real file's.

The picture is first saved as a JPG with less compression, which makes the file bigger without changing its pixels. Only when that is not enough are pixels added, and the result says so: enlarging makes the file bigger but adds no detail.

To make a photo smaller instead, use the image resizer in KB; to change only its pixel dimensions, use the image resizer.

Worked example

A form asks for a photo between 20 KB and 50 KB, and the camera's file is 14 KB. Enter 20 as the minimum and 50 as the maximum: the download is a JPG of at least 20,000 and at most 50,000 bytes. This is an example, not a rule from a particular form.

Before you rely on the result

Still JPEG, PNG and WebP only, up to 20 MB, 16 million pixels and 8,192 pixels per side; the download is always a JPG, with any transparency on white. EXIF metadata, including location, is removed. Nothing is padded with empty bytes: the size comes from the picture itself. Files are processed on your device and are not uploaded or saved.
