How to convert fuel economy

Fuel consumption and distance per fuel are reciprocals. A higher mpg or km/L means less fuel used; a lower L/100 km means less fuel used. Zero has no finite reciprocal.

The formula divides a fixed distance-and-volume factor by the input when crossing between consumption and economy.
