Using Friction force calculator
Friction force magnitude = friction coefficient × normal force.
For a kinetic coefficient this estimates sliding friction. For a static coefficient it is the maximum available static friction, not necessarily the actual force.
A worked example
With coefficient of friction = 0.3, normal force (n) = 100, the friction force magnitude (n) is 30.
Before you use the result
For a kinetic coefficient this estimates sliding friction. For a static coefficient it is the maximum available static friction, not necessarily the actual force.
Example results for coefficient of friction
These examples use Normal force (N): 100. They are reference calculations, not recommended settings.
| Coefficient of friction | Friction force magnitude (N) |
|---|---|
| 0.15 | 15 |
| 0.3 | 30 |
| 0.6 | 60 |
