Sample coefficient of variation = sample standard deviation ÷ mean × 100.
Uses the n − 1 sample standard deviation. Meaningful comparisons require a ratio scale with a meaningful zero; near-zero means make this measure unstable.
A worked example
With sample observations = 2 4 6, the sample coefficient of variation (percent) is 50.
