Using Barrel volume capacity calculator
Estimated full volume = π × length × (end diameter² + 2 × middle diameter²) ÷ 12. Multiply by the fill fraction.
Uses Simpson’s rule on circular cross-sectional areas, with equal end diameters and the widest section at the midpoint. This is an estimate for a bulged barrel, exact for a straight cylinder. Enter internal measurements. Fill fraction is a share of volume, not a liquid-height percentage.
A worked example
For length (cm) = 100, end diameter (cm) = 40, middle diameter (cm) = 50, fill fraction (%) = 100, estimated content (liters) = 172.787596.

Example results for length (cm)
These examples use End diameter (cm): 40; Middle diameter (cm): 50; Fill fraction (%): 100. They are reference calculations, not recommended settings.
| Length (cm) | Estimated content (liters) |
|---|---|
| 50 | 86.393798 |
| 100 | 172.787596 |
| 200 | 345.575192 |
