Using 3D print filament cost calculator
Add filament mass cost, electricity and your other per-job costs before pricing a print.
Material = grams × price/kg ÷ 1,000; energy = hours × watts ÷ 1,000 × price/kWh. Include supports and purge in used mass. Defaults are example assumptions, not measured printer performance.
A worked example
Example inputs: filament used (g) = 100, spool price per kg = 20, print duration (hours) = 5, average printer power (w) = 100, electricity price per kwh = 0.2, other job costs = 1. Print cost = 3.1.
Before you use the result
Material = grams × price/kg ÷ 1,000; energy = hours × watts ÷ 1,000 × price/kWh. Include supports and purge in used mass. Defaults are example assumptions, not measured printer performance.
Example results for filament used (g)
These examples use Spool price per kg: 20; Print duration (hours): 5; Average printer power (W): 100; Electricity price per kWh: 0.2; Other job costs: 1. They are reference calculations, not recommended settings.
| Filament used (g) | Print cost |
|---|---|
| 50 | 2.1 |
| 100 | 3.1 |
| 200 | 5.1 |
