Using Voltage divider calculator
Unloaded output voltage = input voltage × R2 ÷ (R1 + R2).
R1 connects to the supply; R2 connects to ground. The output is across R2. A connected load changes this result; component ratings are not checked.
A worked example
With input voltage (v) = 12, upper resistor r1 (ohms) = 1000, lower resistor r2 (ohms) = 2000, the output voltage (v) is 8.
