Using Production calculator
Divide net available production time by required units to find the required average cycle time.
Net time = available time − downtime. The result is a target, not a demonstrated machine capability. Yield loss, parallel stations and changeover variability must be modeled separately.
A worked example
Example inputs: production time available (minutes) = 480, units required = 120, planned downtime (minutes) = 60. Required cycle time (minutes per unit) = 3.5.

Example results for production time available (minutes)
These examples use Units required: 120; Planned downtime (minutes): 60. They are reference calculations, not recommended settings.
| Production time available (minutes) | Required cycle time (minutes per unit) |
|---|---|
| 240 | 1.5 |
| 480 | 3.5 |
| 960 | 7.5 |
