Using DSP delay calculator
Delay = (speaker path − reference path) ÷ sound speed. Delay samples = delay seconds × sample rate.
Geometric acoustic delay only. The shorter path needs the positive delay to align arrivals with the longer path. Sound speed is editable for your conditions; 343 m/s is an example assumption. Processing latency, reflections, phase and speaker response are not measured.
A worked example
For speaker path distance (meters) = 10, reference path distance (meters) = 2, sound speed (meters per second) = 343, sample rate (hz) = 48000, delay for shorter path (ms) = 23.323615.

Example results for speaker path distance (meters)
These examples use Reference path distance (meters): 2; Sound speed (meters per second): 343; Sample rate (Hz): 48000. They are reference calculations, not recommended settings.
| Speaker path distance (meters) | Delay for shorter path (ms) |
|---|---|
| 5 | 8.746356 |
| 10 | 23.323615 |
| 20 | 52.478134 |
