Using Dog chocolate toxicity calculator
Estimate methylxanthine exposure from chocolate type, amount and dog weight. If ingestion occurred, contact a veterinarian or animal poison service now.
Approximate theobromine plus caffeine concentration from Merck: milk 2.3, dark 5.3-5.6, baking 15.5, cocoa 28.5 and white 0.04 mg/g. Brands and cocoa content vary; mixed foods need an ingredient-specific assessment. No result establishes safety, predicts symptoms or replaces urgent veterinary advice. Other toxic ingredients and packaging are not modeled. Do not induce vomiting unless a veterinarian instructs you.
A worked example
A 10 kg dog that ate 50 g of milk chocolate (about 2.3 mg of theobromine and caffeine per gram) took in about 11.5 mg per kg.
