Using Creatinine clearance calculator
Cockcroft-Gault estimated clearance = (140 - age) times weight / (72 times serum creatinine), with a 0.85 factor for females.
The 1976 equation estimates adult creatinine clearance in mL/min; it is not the same as normalized eGFR. It assumes stable serum creatinine. A clinician must choose the appropriate weight basis and method, especially with obesity, low muscle mass or acute illness. This tool supplies no dosing advice or kidney-disease diagnosis.
A worked example
A 40-year-old man weighing 72 kg with serum creatinine 1.0 mg/dL has an estimated clearance of 100 mL/min; for a woman with the same values it is 85 mL/min.

Example results for age (years)
These examples use Weight used in the equation (kg): 72; Serum creatinine (mg/dL): 1; Sex in the published equation: Male. They are reference calculations, not recommended settings.
| Age (years) | Estimated creatinine clearance (mL/min) |
|---|---|
| 20 | 120 |
| 40 | 100 |
| 80 | 60 |
