Using Wainscoting layout calculator
Divide a wall into equal panel openings while keeping your chosen outer margins and spaces.
Panel width = (wall − two margins − inter-panel spaces) ÷ panel count. Dimensions describe clear openings, not trim outside dimensions. Doors and windows need separate sections.
A worked example
Example inputs: wall width = 100, side margin at each end = 5, number of panels = 3, space between panels = 5. Panel opening width = 26.6666666667.
Before you use the result
Panel width = (wall − two margins − inter-panel spaces) ÷ panel count. Dimensions describe clear openings, not trim outside dimensions. Doors and windows need separate sections.
