Using Trim moulding calculator
Count stock lengths for separate trim runs when offcuts are not reused between runs.
Each run uses ceiling(run length/stock length). Use an effective stock length after trim/kerf allowance. This is a conservative count, not a cut optimizer; visible joins and mitres need their own layout.
A worked example
Example inputs: separate cut lengths = 2 3 4, usable stock length = 3. Stock lengths needed without offcut reuse = 4.
Before you use the result
Each run uses ceiling(run length/stock length). Use an effective stock length after trim/kerf allowance. This is a conservative count, not a cut optimizer; visible joins and mitres need their own layout.
Example results for usable stock length
These examples use Separate cut lengths: 2 3 4. They are reference calculations, not recommended settings.
| Usable stock length | Stock lengths needed without offcut reuse |
|---|---|
| 1.5 | 7 |
| 3 | 4 |
| 6 | 3 |
