Daylight saving: local time and fixed IST and CST
The converter starts with India to Chicago, using local clock rules. For the standard-time offsets all year, use the fixed IST and CST button. IST here means India Standard Time, which has no daylight saving.
These examples use noon on the dates shown. A converted date can be the previous or following day.

12:00 PM Wednesday 15 Jul in India is 1:30 AM Wednesday 15 Jul in Chicago (CDT, 10 h 30 min behind).
Why daylight saving conversions need a date explains skipped and repeated clock readings. The rules here come from the browser’s time zone data and can lag a government change.
