Daylight saving: local time and fixed AEST and IST
The converter starts with Sydney to India, using local clock rules. For the standard-time offsets all year, use the fixed AEST and IST button. IST here means India Standard Time, which has no daylight saving.
These examples use noon on the dates shown. A converted date can be the previous or following day.

12:00 PM Wednesday 15 Jul in Sydney is 7:30 AM Wednesday 15 Jul in India (IST, 4 h 30 min behind).
Why daylight saving conversions need a date explains skipped and repeated clock readings. The rules here come from the browser’s time zone data and can lag a government change.
