Using Carpet calculator
Compare strips running along either room dimension: strip count × (strip length + trim allowance) × roll width.
Rectangular room and constant roll width. Both orientations are compared; seams run along the strips. No pattern repeat, stairs, closets or cutting reuse is modeled. Confirm pile direction and seam placement before ordering. The allowance is added once to each strip length.
A worked example
For room length (feet) = 15, room width (feet) = 10, carpet roll width (feet) = 12, extra length per strip (feet) = 1, carpet to buy (square feet) = 192.
